5.2 The Fruits of the Holy Spirit
1. What are the fruits of the Spirit?
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
2. What are the works of the flesh?
Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
3. How can a person be freed from the works of the flesh?
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
4. By what is the love of God poured out in our hearts?
Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
5. How is love considered?
Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.
6. How causes true faith to work?
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any strength, but faith working through love.
7. What does love do?
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up fights, but love covers all sins.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love to yourselves, for love will cover a multitude of sins.
8. What does the kingdom of God consist of?
Romans 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
9. In what way does love manifest itself?
1 Corinthians 13:4, 5
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
10. What does God's lovingkindness do for us?
Psalm 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of Thy salvation: and Thy right hand hath holden me up, and Thy gentleness hath made me great.

2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
12. What does the goodness of God accomplish?
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
13. How should we treat those who have wronged us?
Romans 12:19-20
19 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
14. How does faith determine our relationship with God?
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
15. How does God regard the meek and quiet spirit?
1 Peter 3:3-4
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

2 Peter 1:5-6
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
17. What great things are said of those who know how to control their spirit?
Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
18. What is said about all these different virtues?
Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
19. From what condemnation are we protected if we are led by the Spirit?
Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
20. To what unity are Christians exhorted?
Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
