2.1 Creation and Creator                 

 

1. By whom were the heavens and the earth made?
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

 

2. By whom did God create all things?
Colossians 1:16 For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:
John 1:3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

 

3. What do the heavens declare?
Psalm 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork.

 

4. What was God's purpose in creating the earth?
Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

5. In whose image was man created?
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

 
6. What home did God make for man in the beginning?
Genesis 2:8-15
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

 

7. What is known from the things that have been made?
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

 

8. Whose handiwork are we?
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

 
9. What assurance is given that the Creator's power will never fail?
Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

 

10. What words of encouragement follow this?
Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.

 

11. To whom are those who suffer exhorted to give their souls?
1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

 

12. What gave special meaning to the angel's oath?
Revelation 10:5, 6
5 And the Angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up His hand to heaven,
6 And sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

13. What contrast do the Scriptures draw between the Creator and false gods?
Jeremiah 10:11-16
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by His discretion.
13 When He uttereth His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

 

15. What has God promised regarding the curse on creation?
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

 

16. What is the true basis of the brotherhood of man?
Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one Father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
