7.3 Increase of Knowledge                                              

 

1. When, according to the words of the angel to Daniel, might the world look for an increase of knowledge?
Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

 

2. Until what time would the saints be persecuted under Roman power?
Daniel 11:35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

 

3. How long would the power, represented by the little horn, or Papal Rome, persecute the saints, according to prophecy?
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

 

4. What can be said about the developments in the line of scientific inventions since 1798?
That these have been remarkable, miraculous, and unparalleled in the history of the world. The people of a century and a quarter ago knew nothing of steamships, steam and electric railways, the telegraph, the telephone, photography, photography, sewing machines, anesthetics, submarine cables, the linotype, the monotype, moving images, X-rays, or wireless telegraphy, etc. If these were to rise from the dead, they would be just as amazed at all these things as the people of four thousand years ago.
Note: This is a century of inventions. The great achievements of the eighteenth century are so far superior to what any previous century has accomplished. The most striking characteristic of those days was the rapid progress the world made in science, general development, and inventions. There has never been such vibrancy in the field of inventions in the history of mankind as in that time. Here follow some of the most important inventions and discoveries of the eighteenth century:

None of these inventions were known before 1798.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the world awoke from its long sleep and a new era dawned. The time of the end, when knowledge would increase as predicted in Daniel 12:4

 
5. What did the Savior say would precede the end?
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Note: The gospel has been brought to almost every tribe and people in the world. Because of this, we can know that the end is near.

 

6. When we see all these things, what then ought we to know?
Matthew 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
