2.10 Salvation through Christ Alone                       

 

1. For what purpose did Christ come into this world?
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

 

2. Why was He called “Jesus”?
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.

 

3. Is there salvation in anyone else?
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

 

4. Through whom are we reconciled to God?
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

 

5. What has Christ been made for us, and for what purpose?
2 Corinthians 5:21 For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

 

6. How much are we dependent on Christ for our salvation?
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.

7. What three things are found in Christ that make Him the Savior?
1. Godhead
Hebrews 1:7-8
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of Thy kingdom.
2. Humanity
Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

8. How did Christ demonstrate from the Scriptures that the promised Savior of the world must be both man and God?
Matthew 22:41-45
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is He? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call Him Lord, saying,
44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on My right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call Him Lord, how is he his son?

 

9. What two facts testify to the union between divinity and humanity in Christ?

10. How complete was Christ's victory over death?

11. How complete is the salvation that is obtained in Christ?
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

 

12. What ought to be said by us for such a Savior?
